THE BASIC WORKSHOP

This is a great introduction into the world of fused and kilnformed/slumped glass.
The Basics Workshop will get you started in the world of fused and kiln formed glass by covering a wide range of fusing and slumping topics. I will assist each participant to become confident in glass design, how to prepare and construct glass projects. You can expect to produce 3 finished pieces, including trays, plates, dishes, slumped wine bottle or windchimes. This class covers; cutting glass, safety, glass selection, designing factors, glass compatibility, preparing glass for firing, mould shaping materials, fusing and slumping, understanding a kiln, kiln selection along with learning firing schedules.
Some glass provided, additional materials will cost approx. $20 depending on projects selected.
Time involved:
* Typically a full day (approx 7hrs)
* a return visit (1 -2 hrs) to discuss outcome of kiln firing of your artwork.
* another workshop visit to retrieve additional kilnformed/slumped artwork.
Cost: $180
Includes use of workshop facilities, tools, some glass and refractory materials,
all kiln firing costs and light refreshments (coffee, tea and homemade banana cake if your lucky!) .
What you will need…
Covered footwear, comfortable clothing, glasses and or safety glasses, dust mask, lunch, and about $20 for materials. Fridge and microwave available.

OPEN STUDIO
Available to participants who have completed “The Basics” class.
So you’ve had a taste of glass fusing and kilnforning/slumping in the Basics Class and you want more… This is the perfect opportunity for you to return to my workshop to create fused and kilnformed art glass at your own pace. You will have access to all workshop tools and machinery to assist in your creations and I will be available to help get you started. Come along for a few hours or a day to relax and create. Ideal for making gifts! Cost: $10 per hour $50 per day (7hrs) Glass materials and kiln firing. My workshop is available most days and you just need to book in advance to make sure I can make space available for you. |
SPECIALTY CLASSES & ONE-ON-ONE WORKSHOP TIME
This is ideal for people that have a specific glass project in mind and need my undivided attention. This is a one-on-one session to assist in bringing your specialty glass project to fruition. Available to participants who have completed “The Basics” class.
